Instructions

To add new feeds:
Click “File” and then “Add feed” (by hitting F2 on the keyboard, or clicking the first button on the left on the toolbar, the white square with a yellow/orange starburst – these will all add a new feed). If you know the address of the feed, copy it into the box that says “Location of feed,” or there are two blanks available for you to create your own keyword feeds. Then click the button to choose your source, and it will create a newsfeed that searches for articles containing the words or phrases you enter.

To delete feeds:
Right-click on the newsfeed title and it will give you a number of options to choose from pertaining to the feed.

To make other changes:
In the Tools menu, select properties, or hit F12 on your keyboard, to open the list of changes you can make to the look and feel of the program, as well as how often FeedReader will look for new articles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How do I read news articles?
A. Click on desired newsfeed title in the left column, and click on any headline to display the article summary. Click "Read on" next to the Actions prompt to view the entire article.

Q. How do I read the articles in a bigger window?
A. If the article page is too big for the FeedReader window, you can click the right mouse button on the "Read on" link at the bottom of the article and select "Open in new window". This will display the article in a separate window of your web browser.

Q. How do I close the program?
A. If you click the icon at the top right corner of the program, it will minimize it and continue to run and notify you of newsfeed updates. To close the program completely, press the F10 key on your keyboard, or click the icon located along the top toolbar.

Q. Why did I get a message saying: "You can only have one instance of FeedReader running at one time"?
A. You tried to start FeedReader while it was already open. Look for the small program icon in the lower right corner of your screen, next to the clock, and click on it to re-open the FeedReader window. If you don't see this icon, it may be hidden. Look for the double-arrow icon and click on it to show hidden icons.

Q. Can I disable the notification pop-ups?
A. If you wish to disable the feed update notification popups, press the F12 key on your keyboard, or click "Tools" then "Properties" and remove the check mark next to "Show pop-up window on taskbar." There, you also can change other program settings, such as automatic program to start up when you turn the computer on, reduce the frequency of feed updates, etc.

Q. How can I delete a newsfeed?
A. If you wish to delete a preset newsfeed, click the right mouse button on the feed title and select "Delete current feed."
